Repeatedly hearing familiar presentations for common diagnoses can lull clinicians into a false sense of security. Even astute clinicians develop a bias toward statically probable benign neuromusculoskeletal diagnoses. Unfortunately, this complacency can lead to disastrous outcomes when a more threatening problem masquerades as something less serious. Participants of this class will refresh their skills for diagnosing both benign and threatening causes of common complaints including; headache, vertigo, chest pain, back pain, hip pain, arthritis, and many others.

This presentation will cover the characteristics of non-musculoskeletal pain and provide differential diagnosis skills for avoiding medical errors related to following the outlined conditions.

As you know, the biomechanics of the back are intimately linked to the foot, knee, and pelvis. Lower extremity dysfunction often leads to serious conditions elsewhere in the body. In this informative seminar, Dr. Jennifer Illes will discuss the kinetic chain and its effects on the extremities. Attendees will be able to skillfully perform and define basic physical, neurological, and orthopedic exams related to the extremities, perform a gait and postural evaluation, with a special focus starting from the feet up the kinetic chain, perform evaluation procedures for the soft tissue and joints in the extremities, perform selected soft tissue and joint manipulative procedures for the extremities, and apply appropriate basic corrective and preventative measures to disturbances affecting the health of the extremities.
