Currently, he is one of approximately 300 chiropractors in the United States to achieve this distinction and remains dedicated to expanding his expertise in sports medicine and integrative care.
Dr. Blake is a sports medicine specialist at Canyon Ranch in Tucson, AZ. In addition to his practice, he serves as President of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians©. He is also the Director of Performance and Sports Medicine for the U.S. Fistball Association, providing performance and medical care for the national teams.
Since graduating from Western States Chiropractic College in the early 1980s, Dr. Tom Michaud has authored numerous book chapters and over 50 journal articles covering topics ranging from the biomechanics of the first ray to the pathomechanics of vertebral artery dissections. He has also served on the editorial review board for several chiropractic and podiatric journals.
In the early 1990s, Williams and Wilkins published Dr. Michaud’s first textbook, Foot Orthoses and Other Forms of Conservative Foot Care, which was eventually translated into four languages. His subsequent book, Human Locomotion: The Conservative Management of Gait-Related Disorders, published in 2012, is widely used in physical therapy, chiropractic, pedorthic, and podiatry schools around the world. In addition to technical texts, Dr. Michaud also authored Injury-Free Running: How to Build Strength, Improve Form, and Treat/Prevent Injuries, now in its second edition, aimed at recreational runners.
Throughout his 40 years of clinical practice, Dr. Michaud designed and patented various diagnostic tools and exercise products to aid in the evaluation and treatment of sports injuries. Following his recent retirement from clinical practice, Dr. Michaud is now dedicating his time to research, writing, and developing new products focused on creating evidence-based evaluation and treatment protocols. His work aims to not only prevent sports injuries but also promote long-term fitness as we age.
