Proper Use of Coding Modifiers

Incorrect usage of a modifier may lead to denials or altered reimbursement. The modifier provides additional information about the medical procedure, service, or supply involved without changing the meaning of the code. New modifiers have been added for 2022 that may impact your office. Since chiropractic procedures, policies, and regulations are often complex, we sometimes need to supply additional information. Knowing the proper use of a modifier may be critical to a claim’s status.
